Scooters give mall deputies a lift



PALMDALE - Sheriff's Deputy Jason Lasley was at the food court in the center of Palmdale's Antelope Valley Mall when two frazzled teens approached him saying they had just been just been robbed in the parking lot.

Disabled can take to the road
Legislation allowing disabled people to ride motorized scooters on public roads has been signed into law by Gov. Jon S. Corzine. The measures were inspired by a 15-year-old with muscular dystrophy who was stopped by police while riding an electric scooter in 2005.

VICTORIA -- Firefighters pulled off a unique rescue yesterday, saving a man in an electric scooter who was dangling precariously over a four-storey elevator shaft.
