A wheelchair-bound Ridgefield man whose body has been racked by rheumatoid arthritis and cancer told a federal jury Tuesday that he suffered discrimination and emotional distress because his hometown failed to provide accommodations for disabled people.

A judge has given local investigators permission to exhume the body of a China Grove man killed in May while riding his motorized scooter. Rowan District Attorney Bill Kenerly petitioned the courts to have the body of Michael Jason Brown, 27, of 1665 Lentz Road, disinterred and an autopsy performed.

Three-Year Sentence In Fatal Crash
A local man will spend three years in prison for the hit-and-run accident that led to the death of an 80-year-old man who was riding a motorized scooter.

Obituary - Beverly Frailey



Beverly Frailey, 63, a resident of The Caring Place, 103 N. 13th St., Franklin, formerly of Kittanning, died suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, while visiting her family in Kittanning during the Christmas holiday.

Scooter law gives leeway to disabled
Legislation that allows disabled people to ride motorized scooters on public roads has been signed into law by Gov. Corzine. The measures were inspired by Matthew Tempe, a 15-year-old from Hamburg with muscular dystrophy who was stopped by police while riding an electric scooter in 2005.

A judge has given local investigators permission to exhume the body of a China Grove man killed in May while riding his motorized scooter. Rowan District Attorney Bill Kenerly petitioned the courts to have the body of Michael Jason Brown, 27, of 1665 Lentz Road, disinterred and an autopsy performed.

Collision with SUV injures girls on scooter
Two girls on a motor scooter were injured Saturday afternoon when they were struck by a Nissan SUV in Perris, authorities said. Riverside County sheriff's Investigator Denver Saucier said the girls, a 13-year-old and a 3-year-old, both from Perris, were taken to local hospitals.
