Girl, 8, thwarts abduction attempt



An abduction attempt in Shiremanstown was thwarted by a quick-thinking 8-year-old girl, police said. The girl was riding her motorized scooter alone around 1:20 p.m. Saturday through Strawberry Alley near the police station when a maroon van stopped in front of her, Officer Richard Grove said.
