Finding Life After 9/11

For those skeptical of an Adam Sandler drama about the events of September 11, 2001 (and who wouldn't be?), be warned: If you've seen "Punch Drunk Love" or "Spanglish" and didn't buy Mr. Sandler displaying his serious side, or if you've been wary of September 11 films from the beginning, "Reign Over Me" is not the film to alter your tastes. That said, if you're a New Yorker who feels as if so ...

Good acting is the rule in 'Reign'
THE UNOFFICIAL Adam Sandler Project is an effort by a group of Hollywood writer-directors -- with all the ego that hyphen implies -- to exploit Sandler's undeniable screen presence, while redirecting his acting energies from autistic to artistic. By placing Sandler's character in counterpoint to the world we know as normal, that world is turned upside down. Crazy becomes the new normal.

What a great concept! Lets take a slightly overweight, definitely middle-aged and slightly balding Brit. Put him on a 50cc Vesper scooter and let him amble from the very southern tip to the northernmost parts of Italy, while he enjoys the food, drinks, sights and smells. I think his publicist summed it up well in an email she sent to me: 'I thought you would like this book, and to be ...

Bush defies rules
There's no shortage of hypocrisy in Washington within both parties, but of late, the Republicans have been serving it up like a "Super Size Me" fast-food chain. It's hard to feel too much sympathy for Scooter Libby when Republicans were relishing charges against President Clinton for the very same crime - lying to a grand jury.
